Detective Inspector Pooja is sent from Kathmandu to a border town in Nepal to solve the kidnapping of two young men, one of them being a congressman’s son. However, the town is brewing with political unrest and violent protests. While trying to keep her queer identity a secret, she delves deeper into the case. The evidence seems to point to activists from the Madhesi minority, but Pooja suspects there might be more to the case.

Pooja, Sir is inspired by the real life events of 2015 where members of the Madhesi minority community in the southern parts of Nepal took to the streets to protest for their civil rights and against the ongoing police oppression and widespread discrimination of their community.
